Robbie Graham demonstrating how to make these mind bogglingly beautiful triple vessels:

(Spalted Tawa)

How on earth could he do it????

Starts off with a very carefully shaped rough block and a counter weight (washers)

After turning down the first one, the block is remounted to start the second one....

Both have now been cut down until they are a precise fit to a template

Then (after finishing the third one) flip it over and pop one into a jam chuck which is screwed to the base

On to the second one (note jam chuck and counter weight)

The black starts off with those three holes; each one in turn gets pushed onto a dowl in the middle of the customwood face plate.
Then we had Shane Hewitt showing us how to save a ring from one end of a bowl blank and stick it on the top to make the bowl higher....

And also how to do very nice looking angled carving around the neck of a hollow form

In short - set up the bevel and use the index on the machine to mark out regular lines...so simple when you see it done!
Some of Shane's carvings...

And other items brought along by club members...
