We acquired this treadle lathe in April 2007.
It appears to be a "Barnes #5 velocipde treadle lathe", manufactured by WF and John Barnes Co in Rockord Illinois, U.S.A after 1876
This is a picture of a restored No5 that was for sale the States not long ago , and here are some close ups of the same lathe - it does look very much like ours
